Researching the management of debt on the internet is a confusing business! Regrettably you will find that there are hundreds of web sites relating to debt, many of which contain errors and bad advice.
You will find on this page details of web sites that we would recommend. It is not, by any means, an exhaustive list but they are web sites that we use regularly and which we consider to be useful, reliable and informative.
Although the information contained on these sites is useful it can never be a substitute for specific advice on particular circumstances, and so we cannot accept responsibility for the information that they contain.
The Insolvency Service is an agency of the Department of Business and Regulatory Reform and is responsible for the administration and implementation of UK insolvency procedures. The web site contains a wide selection of information spanning technical advice for insolvency practitioners through to easy to read guides on various aspects of insolvency. http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/
The IPA is one of our regulatory bodies and their web site contains useful information about insolvency practitioners and how they can help you.

Regrettably, sometimes Banks and their appointed agents fail to live up to the standards that they set for themselves. BCSB is the regulatory body that monitors and enforces compliance with the Banking Code. You will find a copy of the Banking Code here together with information explaining how to make a complaint, should you consider that your creditors are failing to comply with their own standards.

If you need to review your financial circumstances you may wish to access your credit file to confirm that you have included all of your debts. If you find that your credit rating is being adversely affected by an incorrect association with another individual you may also wish to file a Notice of Disassociation with the credit reference agencies. You may also want to contact the agencies on the successful completion of your IVA to ensure that your debts have been marked as satisfied. The contact details for these agencies are;
